Instructions/ Important Information/ Dates

 

The J.D. Butler and Alice Butler Foundation was created in 1976 through the generosity of Alice W. Butler in memory of their children Evelyn Butler, Reba Butler and J. Butler Jr. It was Mrs. Butler’s expressed wish to assist students, who graduated from Deerfield Beach High School, that do not have sufficient
financial resources required to pay the cost and expenses of continuing their education.

 

J. D. Butler and Alice W. Butler Memorial Scholarship Foundation Scholarships are awarded to those Deerfield Beach High School students who desire to continue their education on a higher level after graduation from Deerfield BeachHigh School. This is not a full scholarship.

The criteria for selection will be financial need, scholastic aptitude and performance, notable achievement during the term of their attendance as students of Deerfield Beach High School, and good moral character.

 

Scholarships will be granted for attendance at accredited colleges, community colleges, and universities, wherever located within the United States, for undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional education and training.

Students must be enrolled full-time (12 credits) to receive Butler Scholarship funds. Scholarships must be renewed at the end of each academic year, but no recipient shall receive scholarship funds for more than four academic years.

Butler Scholarship recipients will be required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.5 to be considered for future Butler Scholarship awards.

Application distribution for the 2009-2010 school year will begin on Monday,

January 15, 2009. Applications will be available on our web site: www.dbhs.us.

The application deadline for the 2009-2010 school year is Friday, April 24, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. Applications must be typed, signed, and delivered to the Butler Scholarship office at Deerfield Beach High School, 910 SW 15th Street, Deerfield
Beach, Florida 33441. by the deadline.

 

Submissions can be sent by U.S. Mail or other commercial carrier (i.e. Fed Ex or UPS). Mailed applications must be
received or mailed overnight priority before the April 24, 2009 deadline.
